AFTER nine months of inactivity, Bacolod City’s Genesis “Azukal” Servania returned to the boxing ring Sunday night and defeated Alexander Espinoza of Venezuela at the Sangyo Hall in Kanazawa, Japan.

Servania, who is now under the Kashimi Boxing Promotions of Japan for almost a year after bolting the ALA Boxing Gym, defeated Espinoza by unanimous decision after 10 rounds.

The undeafeted former WBO Inter-continental super bantamweight champion improved his record to 27 wins with 11 knockouts in his second fight in Japan. He won his first fight there also with a 10-round unanimous decision against Indonesian Hendrick Barongsay last year.

Despite the long lay-off, Servania showed no signs of rust as he is actively training in Japan and even sparred with Japanese WBO world super flyweight champion Naoya Inoue.

Espinoza on the other hand, suffered his eighth loss with 11 wins, 10 knockouts and a single draw.
