Badian island barangay gets 2 classrooms for high school students
THE 77 high school students in one of the island barangays of Badian town will have more space to hold their classes with the turnover of two new classrooms that will be added to Zaragosa National High School.
Cebu Provincial Engineer Hector Jamora said that the high school students shared classrooms with the more than 300 elementary students of the school.
Cebu Gov. Hilario Davide III and Vice Gov. Agnes Magpale turned over the P1.4 million two-classroom building to the Zaragosa National High School yesterday.
The building is within the compound of the Zaragosa Elementary School.
Each classroom can accommodate up to 44 students of grades seven and eight.
The classrooms, which took three months to construct, were funded by the provincial government, which included delivering the materials to the island from the Badian town proper which is a 10-minute barge trip from the Badian port.
Jamora said that aside from Barangay Zaragosa, they also constructed classrooms in Barangay Calangcang also in Badian.
The provincial government also recently turned over school buildings in towns of Ginatilan, Oslob and Boljoon.
Jamora said that there were still 15 school buildings in different barangays in different towns that would be constructed but they were still in the bidding process.
These barangays were for their high school students, said Jamora.
“Those barangays requested for additional classrooms specially for students of K to 12,” he said.
These classrooms also funded by the provincial government were expected to be finished by next year, he said.
