THE top of the leaderboard in the Passerelle division of the Milo-backed Cebu SBP-Passerelle Tournament 2016 remains to be a muddled one as three teams share the lead after last weekend’s games at the Ateneo de Cebu basketball courts along Mango Avenue.

The Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu got off to a scintillating start and never looked back en route to a 56-34 win over the University of Southern Philippines Foundation. A 22-4 lead after the first canto was all Ateneo de Cebu needed to get the easy win. Maynard Uy had 13 points while Chico Chan added 10.

The University of the Visayas on the other hand, bucked a slow start to register a 45-25 beating of the Southwestern University-Phinma. UV led by only two, 6-4, after the first quarter but started to pour it on in the succeeding periods where they held SWU to a combined 10 markers in the second and third to build a, 37-14 lead. Jose Dizon paced UV with 11.

Not to be outdone, Don Bosco also won, 45-29, over the Abellana National School behind Tracy Dadang’s 13 markers.

Don Bosco, Ateneo de Cebu and UV share the lead with similar 3-0 records.

In the Small Basketeers of the Philippines division, Ateneo de Cebu A racked up their third straight win with a, 58-30 rout of the Ateneo de Cebu B. Eric Zabalon and Renzo Zanoria topscored with 15 and 10, respectively.

USC on the other hand, got their second victory in three games with a 32-31 squeaker over Don Bosco. Justin Betinol delivered the goods in crunchtime where he scored half of his 18 points to power USC to the win and keep Don Bosco winless in three tries.
