A 39-year-old man is now facing child abuse charges after allegedly hitting a 10-year-old boy with a nail ridden wood.

Raymund Morales of Barangay Sambag 1, Cebu City has been charged with violating Republic Act 7610 or the Anti-child Abuse Law before the Regional Trial Court. Bail is set at P80,000.

According to the victim’s affidavit, whose name is withheld for being a minor, the incident occurred on the afternoon of September 4 while his neighbor Morales was sleeping outside the victim’s house.

The victim recounted that he was playing with his roller skates when Morales allegedly hit him in the head with a nail ridden wood.

“Nihilak ko sa kasakit (I cried because of the pain),” the victim said in his affidavit.

The victim added he ran into their house and told his grandparents about what happened.

They reported the incident to the barangay before bringing the boy to the emergency room of Cebu City Medical Center, where the victim was treated for head injuries.

The barangay officials effected a citizen’s arrest on Morales and turned him over to the Police Station on Osmeña Boulevard, Sambang I, where he is now detained.
