A former cop and his cousin were shot down by motorcycle riding assailants at Juana Subdivision, Barangay Estaca, Compostela town at 5 am Saturday.
SPO1 Derrick Into of the Compostela police precinct identified the victims as Antonio Ibonia, a former policeman and his cousin Cezar Belacho, an overseas worker.
Into said Belacho was feeding his pet cocks while Ibonia was inside his house when the motorcycle riding assailants stopped by the area. One of them shot Belacho while another entered the house and shot Ibonia.
Both men died on the spot. Inot said Ibonia used to be assigned at the Lapu Lapu City Police Office’s intelligence unit before he went absent without leave (AWOL) while Belacho had just arrived from the Middle East.
Recovered from the crime scene were several spent shells and one loaded .45 pistol.
