At least P3.2 million worth of illegal drugs believed to be shabu (methamphetamine) were recovered after five suspected drug peddlers and users were arrested by anti-drug operatives late Thursday afternoon.

The suspects – Eric Campo De los Nieves, 27, Elboy Lemoran Alvez, 21, Roy Gallardo Viscayno, 35, Raymond Llaguno Villamor, 23, and Jovenal Rodas Paayas, 43 – were arrested by officials of the Regional Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group (RAIDSOTG) of the Police Regional Office in Central Visayas (PRO 7) and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in a joint anti-illegal drugs operation at Sitio Kawayan, Barangay Sambag 2, Cebu City.

The operation was conducted at around 5 p.m. Thursday against a crime suspect out on bail, identified as Joshua Maningue Bucog alias “Brix” and his cohorts, a spot report released by the Regional Operations Group (RSOG) – RAIDSOTG 7 said.

Police recovered an estimated 1000 grams of illegal drugs, with an estimated Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) value of P3.2 million, the report said.

Also seized were two firearms, magazines, ammunition, and drug paraphernalia.

However, Bucog, 25, was able to escape and elude arrest.

According to the report, Bucog currently has a pending case for frustrated murder and for violating RA 8294 or or possession of unlicensed firearms.

Bucog was temporarily released on bail.
