USC team captain looking for decent finish in Cesafi

By: John Carlo Villaruel November 04,2016 - 09:24 PM

UNIVERSITY of San Carlos (USC) team captain Debbie Mae Gamboa hopes to end her collegiate career with a bang as she looks to lead the Lady Warriors against the University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) Lady Panthers in the battle-for-third match of the Cesafi women’s volleyball tournament today at the USC Main gym.

The 19-year-old Gamboa, who is set to complete her college years in March next year, hasn’t had the most impressive volleyball career, failing to give lead her team to the title in her four-year stint wearing the green-and-gold uniform.

Despite that, Gamboa still hopes she can make the most of her final game in the Cesafi and lead USC to at least a third-place finish.

“I would really want to perform well so I can give back to all the coaches who helped me,” Gamboa said. “That’s really what I ask from myself too. That I can perform consistently.”

She might, however, have a tougher time than expected as she is still coming off a fever after her Unigames stint in Dumaguete City last week. But she still wants to give it a try and have fun in her final game.

“I hope the team will do its best just for one last time, for the one last game for me in the Cesafi,” she added.

Game time between the Lady Warriors and the Lady Panthers is set at 2:30 p.m. right after the men’s game between the Southwestern University (SWU) Cobras and USPF Panthers at 1:30 p.m.
