CEBU Governor Hilario Davide III appointed a physician assigned in Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center (CPDRC) as the acting assistant jail warden.

In a press conference yesterday, Davide announced that Dr. Gil Macato will be one overseeing the management of the facility for the meantime. Macato, who is a Provincial Health Officer III, will take over the position left by Civil Security Unit head Bobby Legaspi after the latter filed an indefinite leave of absence. Legaspi last reported on Sept. 28.

“I’m still the warden. Macato will help manage CPDRC for the meantime. He is a former medico-legal of NBI,” Davide said.

Davide took over as acting jail warden after Capitol consultant on Jail Matters Marco Toral, and then CPDRC jail warden Romeo Manansala resigned after they were linked to a spate of jail incidents including those eight inmates who died of various ailments in a month.
