Globe eyes more market share with mobile store
TO GET a bigger slice of the retail and postpaid segment in Cebu, Globe Telecom will assign a unit of the firm’s Globe Mobility Caravan Store here.
The store is a truck offering services and selling retail products just like the typical Globe center in malls.
“You can do everything except pay your bills in a Globe Mobility Store. One can apply a plan here,” said Joe Caliro, Globe Telecom head of retail transformation management, during an interview last Friday.
The telecom firm has six mobility caravan stores at present and will have four more this year.
“We started with just one unit in December which we pilot in Batangas over two weeks. It was very successful and we thought that it would be a good strategy to duplicate the model to other areas in the country including Cebu,” Caliro said.
The store was initially conceptualized to go where festivals are happening but according to Caliro, it’s not all the time that there are festivals so the truck will go to places that are underserved when there are no festivals.
“We usually prioritize areas that have high concentration of people who will still have to travel two to three hours to get to the nearest Globe store. We will go to them and offer them our services instead,” he said.
The model is seen to work best for the Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) according to Caliro which Cebu also has a lot.
