Canizares’ superb farewell game powers Roosters in CWBC hoop
JOEVINCE Canizares made it a farewell to remember as he piled up 46 points and a whopping 33 rebounds to lead his Roosters to a 109-89 win over the Bears in the Cebu Weekend Basketball Club last weekend at the City Sports Club Cebu basketball courts.
Playing in his farewell game as he is set to go overseas for several business ventures, the businessman-commercial model ran roughshod over his defenders to establish league records in points and rebounds.
In other games, former University of San Carlos skipper Nico Magat had a brilliant all-around showing as he had 27 points, 18 rebounds and six assists to push the Toros over the Mantis, 112-100.
Kevin Labay also had a double-double of 24 points and 16 rebounds in the Cobras’ 82-69 conquest of the Tigers. Chase Cokaliong also remained on his hot shooting streak as he submitted 24 points to lead his Mustangs past the Penguins, 95-81.
Ryan Miano also had 30 markers in the Pandas’ 92-50 victory over the Dragons, while Ralph Belarmino steered the Bulldogs past the Parrots, 76-51, with 19 points and four boards.
