Leylam FC, USC settle for 1-1 stalemate in 18th Aboitiz Cup

MEN’S open defending champion Leylam FC and University of San Carlos (USC) fought to a 1-1 draw in Group A of the ongoing 18th Aboitiz Football Cup at the Cebu City Sports Center (CCSC) yesterday.

Dan Villarico, one of Leylam FC’s most reliable stalwarts, scored the first goal at the 24th minute but Kerr Agot delivered the equalizer for USC at the 50th.

In other men’s open matches, University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) blanked WE United FC,7-0, while Avengers FC escaped Suzuki FC, 5-4.

In Group B, last year’s runner-up, ERCO-BRO GAU FC relied on African player Madi Nji to outlast Rising Sun, 3-1.

Nji scored at the 46th and 88th while teammate Jhemar Vergara came up with his own goal in 54th.

In the boys under-18 matches held at the Don Bosco Technological Center (DBTC), Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) was silenced by ERCO BRO FC, 2-6, while host team, DBTC FC nipped PAREF Springdale, 2-0.
