NATIONAL Master (NM) Arnolito Cadiz scored 7.5 points in nine rounds Sunday to win the Group A crown in the April edition of the Cebu Executives and Professionals Chess Association (CEPCA) Monthly Tournament at the Knight Attack Chess Café in Robinson’s Galleria Cebu.
Second placer Rey Flores had 7.0 points while third placer Silverstein Torres logged 6.0 points.
Peterson Sia and Kidd Salazar tied at fourth place with 5.0 points while Carlo Maraat settled at fifth with 4.0 points followed by Jeremy and Jonas Bajo who came in sixth and seventh spots with 3.5 and 3.0 points, respectively.
In Group B, Jave Peteros who topped the Little Wesley So Chess Cup’s April edition ruled the category by scoring 4.5 points. Manny Abucay also had 4.5 points but placed second with a lower tie break points. John Cadiz, the son of NM Cadiz placed third with 4.0 points.
