VESCON Construction weathered a gritty stand by LM Paragsa, 87-81, for their second straight win in the 2017 Cebu City Mayor’s Cup Commercial Basketball Tournament last night at the Cebu City Sports Institute.
The win landed Vescon in the top spot of the four-team tournament with a clean 2-0 win-loss record.
LM Paragsa suffered its second straight loss.
The top two finishers at the end of the elimination round today will battle for the P50,000 championship cash prize on Monday.
Five players scored in double figures for Vescon led by 16 points of Mark Abadia. Mark Ababon and Ronan Isidro each had 15 while Bassiere Sackour and Harold Cincoflores tallied 14 apiece.
After its easy win in the tournament opener, Vescon was made to sweat this time around as it found itself trailing by 11 after the first, 20-31.
Vescon slowly chipped away at the lead and eventually grabbed the upper hand with a 10-4 run that gave the team a 65-63 lead heading to the last period.
