Global Cebu vs Ilocos United today at CCSC

By: John Carlo A. Villaruel August 04,2017 - 10:12 PM

AFTER pulling off a 2-1 victory over FC Meralco Manila last Wednesday, Global Cebu FC looks to sustain its momentum as it battles the struggling Ilocos United FC today at the Cebu City Sports Center football field.

Game time is at 4 p.m.

Global is currently at third place with a 7-4-2 (win-loss-draw) card worth 25 points behind Kaya FC-Makati and Meralco Manila, who are at first and second place, respectively.

Both Makati and Manila have 27 points but the former holds the top spot for having a six-goal advantage.

Although the home team holds a psychological advantage, Global Cebu head coach Akbar Nawas said that they should not be complacent since they’re playing against a squad hungry for a win.

“It’s always dangerous to play against a team searching for a win,” he said. “If we go out there without the right frame of mind, we might be in trouble.”

Nawas added that their new acquisition in Spanish footballer Rufo Sanchez will be playing in today’s match.

Ilocos is at last place in the standings with a 0-3-10 card for three points.
