JESUS Tanpinco of Bacolod Motor Sports (BMS) blazed the tracks at the Bogo City Hall to take the top titles in the second leg of the Drag Wars 2017 Series last weekend.
Tanpinco, using a Toyota MR2 Spyder with a K20 engine, won the Quick 8 Open, Quick 8 All Motor and Pro class (Class A) titles of the drag racing competition held in partnership with the Cebu Horsepower Events and Promotion, the Federation of Auto Clubs Cebu and the City of Bogo through Mayor Carlo Jose Martinez. It was the first time Bogo hosted a first drag racing event.
Cebu racers didn’t go home empty handed.
In the expert class (Class B), Vincent Navalez of Cebu’s Dubcity emerged winner while JR Monilar of team AMO topped the Sportsman Class (Class C). The Hotstreet class (Class D) title was won by Ritchie Matarlo of Classic Autoworx also of Cebu.
One of the organizers, Michael Yehmen Mercado of Classic Autoworx, who finished runner up in the Quick 8 All-Motor and second runner up in the Quick 8 Open, said with the all-out support given by Mayor Martinez, the third and fourth legs of the series will also be held in the City of Bogo.
The first leg was held at the South Road Properties in Cebu City earlier this year.
The other members of the organizing team are Ron Sanchez, Jonathan Ho, and Ronald Mijarez.
The third leg is tentatively set in November.
