MEDICAL-DENTAL MISSION

Some 350 residents in Barangay Paknaan, Mandaue City, availed of free medical and dental services from the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) at the barangay’s gymnasium on Thursday morning.

The beneficiaries received free medical and dental checkups and free medicines during the mobile medical and dental mission organized by NGCP.

A team composed of 20 doctors, 10 dentists and 10 nurses offered their services to the residents for free.

Paknaan Barangay Captain Malaquias Soco said the beneficiaries were selected from the different zones in the barangay, with 10 from each zone.

Lida May Lopez, head of Corporate Initiatives and Advocacies of NGCP, said they have been conducting medical and dental mission in the different barangays in the country where there are NGCP transmission lines.

Lopez said they have an incoming project involving the installation of high voltage power cable along the area in Butuanon riverbank that is under the jurisdiction of Barangay Paknaan.

Lopez said the NGCP also commits to help rehabilitate the Butuanon River.

“This is the 18th time that we conducted this kind of activity throughout the Philippines,” Lopez said.

She added this is also part of their advocacy efforts to spread the wellness in host barangays.

Barangay Paknaan is the first recipient of NGCP’s medical and dental mission in Cebu.

Soco said they are fortunate to have been chosen by NGCP as the beneficiary of their outreach program.

“Daku kaayo atong pasalamat sa ingon niining mga kalihokan kay daku kaayo ni og ikatabang sa mga kabus (We are very thankful for this kind of event as it is a very big help to the needy),” Soco said.
