KDRAMA fans rejoiced and cried happy tears when one of their favorite reel-turned-real pairs tied the knot yesterday afternoon.
After a low-key romance that reportedly started in 2015, Song Hye Kyo and Song Joong Ki got married in an intimate ceremony attended by family members and friends.
The two—fondly called Song-Song couple by their fans—starred in 2016’s hit drama series “Descendants of the Sun” and have remained discreet about their relationship, with barely any sightings of them going out on dates.
In July, the two stars shocked their fans with an announcement that they are already engaged.
“Marriage is not only a private matter but also a meeting between two families, so it was a delicate situation in many ways.
There was no choice but to be cautious prior to marriage, and so we are at last conveying this message,” they said in a joint statement.
Several Korean stars attended the ceremony including Park Bo Gum, Park Hyung Sik, Kim Min Suk, Super Junior’s Donghae, 2PM’s Junho, Kim Ji Won, Choi Ji Won, Lee Jung Hyun, Lim Joo Hwan, Son Hyun Joo, Kim Soo Ahn, Kim Hee Sun, Hong Kyung Min, Lee Mi Yeon, Lee Seung Joon, Jo Sung Ha and Moon So Ri, and Park Sol Mi. An Instagram account for Chinese superstar Zhang Ziyi posted a photo of her with the newlyweds. The caption was: This is LOVE. Korean website www.soompi.com reported that Zhang shared photos from the wedding via her Weibo account.
“This is the most beautiful love, the most beautiful look! Song Joong Ki & Song Hye Kyo, best wishes,” the actress wrote.
Fans, who have been excitedly sharing news about the wedding, made the hashtag #SongSongCoupleWedding trend worldwide.
