Village official nabbed
INSTEAD of taking his lunch, a councilman of Barangay Tulay in Minglanilla town, southern Cebu, was arrested by police at past noon yesterday.
The councilman identified as Melchor Secuya was arrested based on a search warrant secured by police who received complaints from his neighbors about his alleged indiscriminate firing of his pistols.
Police seized from Secuya two loaded pistols. Supt. Joie Yape Jr. of the Cebu Provincial Police Office’s intelligence branch said Secuya denied firing his pistols.
Yape said they secured a warrant from Judge Jacinto Fajardo of Branch 66 of the Regional Trial Court in Talisay City to search Secuya’s home at 12:30 p.m. yesterday.
