The Armed Forces of the Phillipines Central Command (Centcom) has no information regarding the 100 members of a jihadish terorist group who were rumored to have entered the country, possibly through the Visayas, en route to Mindanao.

Colonel Medel Aguilar, the deputy assistant chief of Centcom’s unified staff civil military operations, however said they were not taking the report lightly and would exert all effort to have it verified.

He assured that Centcom maintains its alert level 2 status as part of their monitoring to thwart any attempt of terrorists to enter Central Visayas.

Senior Superitendent Jonathan Cabal, the chief of the Regional Police Office in Central Visayas’ Regional Intelligence Division (RID 7), also stressed that insofar as the police were concerned, the report remained unverified.

But like the Centcom, Cabal said they were also not letting their guards down and have intensified hteir monitoring and coordination with the military and police intelligence communities against possible entry of terrorists in the region.
