Big Yellow Boxing Gym fighters victorious in Bakbakan Sa Catmon
BIG Yellow Boxing Promotions introduced itself in the mainstream boxing scene with impressive performances from its pugs in the “Bakbakan Sa Catmon” fight card last Saturday in the northern Cebu town of Catmon.
Big Yellow Boxing Gym’s ace fighters Carlo Demecillo, Marjun Pantilgan, Clyde Azarcon and Audie Dacua were all triumphant in their respective bouts, which according to chief trainer Christopher “Ping ping” Tepora, were all acid tests for his pugs.
Among the four, it was 21-year-old Demecillo who had the most bizarre victory.
The youngest among the fighting Demecillo brothers, Carlo was dominating Omega Boxing Gym’s Jay-ar Aliasot until the middle of the fourth when the latter suffered a gruesome injury.
Aliasot’s right shoulder got dislocated while trying to throw an uppercut against Demecillo, forcing the bout to be stopped.
Before the accident, Demecillo was leading the scorecards from the three judges, thus awarding him the technical knockout (TKO) victory.
Aliasot’s injury was immediately taken cared of by his team from the Omega Pro Sports International.
The win improved Demecillo’s record to 8-4-0 (win-loss-draw) with three victories by knockouts.
Aliasot suffered his second loss against six wins, five by knockouts).
In the co-main event, Pantilgan scored a second-round TKO against journeyman Nicardo Calamba of Butuan City for his 16th victory. That was his 12th win via knockout. He also has five defeats but no draws.
“I am very satisfied with my boxers’ performance even though their bouts were stopped unexpectedly. But I am impressed with their showing and I am already planning to give them big fights next year which involves regional titles. Hopefully, there will be more fight cards like this not just here in Cebu but in Mindanao as well,” said Big Yellow Boxing Promotions top honcho Seth Oliver Tio.
Other winning boxers from Big Yellow Boxing Gym were Azarcon (11-1-0, 4KOs), who won by split decision against Omega Boxing Gym’s Ar-ar Borbon (5-2-1, 5KOs), and Dacua (1-0-0, 1KO), who scored a first round knockout win against Wilberto Rota (0-3) in his debut.
