CEBU CITY—A tugboat towing a barge loaded with scrap metal ran aground in Lawis Ledge in Talisay City, Cebu on Friday morning.

Philippines Coast Guard (PCG)-Cebu Station Commander Jerome Cayabyab said he received a phone call from Cebu City Councilor Dave Tumulak around 7 a.m. requesting a rescue team.

Cayabyab said the tugboat was blown off course due to strong winds brought by Tropical Storm “Vinta.”

He said the tugboat came from Cagayan de Oro to deliver scrap metal in Mandaue City.

“The tugboat had 10 crew. No injuries were reported and our emergency responders are now on its way to pull it off,” said Cayabyab.
