‘Gandarrappido: The Revenger Squad’ Tops Cebuanos’ MMFF choice

IF THE huge crowds lining up for Vice Ganda’s Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) entry, “Gandarrappido: The Revenger Squad” are any indication, the comedian-host still wields the strongest hold over the moviegoing Cebuano public.

It was the most watched MMFF entry at Robinsons Galleria Cebu when the film festival opened on Christmas Day.

Kevin Bautista, a staff from Robinsons MovieWorld told Cebu Daily News yesterday, “Kang Vice Ganda ang kasagaran gilinyahan sa mga tawo dinhi.”
“Gandarrappido: The Revenger Squad” also stars Daniel Padilla and Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach.

The film is produced by Star Cinema and Viva Films and directed by Bb. Joyce Bernal.

It serves as Vice Ganda’s MMFF comeback film after his 2016 movie “The Super Parental Guardians” was excluded in last year’s official entries.
As of last night, the MMFF official Facbeook page has yet to release the nationwide rankings and gross income for all eight entries in the ongoing film
festival.

The other entries are “Ang Larawan,” “Haunted Forest,” “Deadma Walking,” “All of You,” “Siargao,” “Meant to Beh” and “Ang Panday.”

Bautista said that “Gandarrappido: The Revenger Squad” was followed by “Ang Panday,” “Meant To Beh,” “Deadma Walking” and “Ang Larawan.”

Gelma Caburnay, a staff from the Ayala Mall Cinemas in Cebu City, said that the most watched film in their cinemas was also “Gandarrappido: The Revenger Squad.” It was followed by “Ang Panday,” “Meant to Beh,” “All of You,” and “Ang Larawan.”

A staff of SM Cinema said moviegoers lined up mostly tp watch the Vice Ganda-starrer since the film festival opened on December 25. Next in rank was Coco Martin’s “Ang Panday.”
