FORMER University of Cebu wingman Joseph Mayol had an explosive debut as he led Batch 2015 past Batch 2010, 87-52, at the start of the Sacred Heart Ateneo Alumni Basketball Athletic Association (SHAABAA) Summer League, which kicked off last Sunday at the SHS-Ateneo de Cebu Magis Eagles Arena in Canduman, Mandaue City.

Mayol, who was also a standout on the 2015 national title-winning Magis Eagles squad, pumped in 27 points to go with four rebounds and two assists.

In other matches in the quadruple-bill on opening day, Leigh Dixon was a man amongst boys as he scored 16 points and snatched 12 boards in 2007’s 55-50 win over 2013.

Then, Franco Te put up 24 points and four rebounds to lead 2004 over 2000, 76-73.

And finally, 2006 slipped past 2005, 71-64, as Patrick Jacobe charted 20 points and five rebounds.

Ten teams are competing in this tournament. The top four teams from the two brackets will advance to the crossover quarterfinals. All playoff games will be knockout affairs.
