A 54-year-old jeepney dispatcher, who moonlights as a drug peddler to earn extra income, was arrested during an anti-illegal drug operation on Saturday in Barangay Sambag 1 in Cebu City.

Danilo Vergara and his cohort, Waldo Apuhin, 55, who are both residents of Barangay Sambag 1, were caught selling illegal drugs, said Chief Insp. Maria Theresa Macatangay, Fuente Police Station commander, in a phone interview.

Vergara, who is a jeepney dispatcher at the Cebu South Bus Terminal area, and Apuhin were caught with a medium pack and three sachets of suspected shabu, said Macatangay.

The confiscated suspected shabu weighed 2.63 grams with an estimated Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) value of P31,600.

Macatangay said that they received reports about Vergara’s illegal activities and had monitored him for two weeks to confirm the reports before they conducted the operation against the suspect.

Vergara told police that he made selling illegal drugs as a sideline job to earn extra income for his family.

The two suspects were detained at the Fuente Police Station detention cell pending the filing of charges.
