Strong showing for Cebuano jins in National Poomsae Championships

THE CEBUANO taekwondo jins won gold medals in the 2018 National Poomsae Championships, which wrapped up last Sunday at the Rizal Memorial Stadium in Malate, Manila.

Cebu teams S.T.A.R Taekwondo Gym and Avengers TKD Center hauled in a total of 11 gold medals in different categories.

S.T.A.R Taekwondo Gym of former world poomsae champion and now coach Glenn Lava won eight gold medals, nine silvers and nine bronze medals. The Avengers TKD Center of coach Avenger Alob finished with three golds, three silvers, and one bronze.

Leading the list of winners for S.T.A.R is Aidane Laxa, who won the gilt in the black belt individual female category. International poomsae champion McAvengyr Alob also won a gold for the Avengers team in the senior individual male action.

Among the gold medalist for the Avengers TKD who entered the tournament with only a 13-man delegation are Shane Nasayao and Beatrice Rose Toring, who owned the top podium finish in the freestyle pair category.

The young Theodore Montecalvo also contributed a gold in the red belt grade school individual male competition.

Edison John Libor ruled the brown belt individual male category for S.T.A.R while Manuel Mativo worked his magic in the red belt male individual event.

Other individual winners for S.T.A.R are Rayn Perez (blue belt female), Roljan Ylanan (yellow belt male), and Erika Amora (yellow belt female).
