CEBU City’s recently elected president of the Association of Barangay Captains (ABC) called on barangay officials to move past the discord caused by the recent elections and improve their services to their constituents.

In a privilege speech Councilor and ABC president Franklyn Ong disclosed his plans during his term which include enhancing the services offered by the barangays.

“I ask help from my fellow punong barangays (village chiefs) to share their best practices and their challenges as well, so that we could all learn while helping each other,” he said.

Ong called on barangay captains allied with his rival, Mabolo Barangay Captain Prisca Niña Mabatid and the Barug Team Rama to move on from their loss in the ABC elections last July 30.

“I shall endeavor to be the voice that will bring the sentiments and concerns of the barangays to the city government. I pray for healing and an end to petty discord so we can move on and move forward with our constituents,” he said.

Ong, the barangay captain of Kasambagan, is one of two ex officio officers in the City Council, the other being Sangguniang Kabataan (SK)-Cebu City Federation President Jessica Resch.

Both Ong and Resch are aligned with the Bando Osmeña-Pundok Kauswagan (BO-PK) party which now holds a 10-8 majority in the council.
