BOTH the police and military were placed on heightened alert in the wake of the recent bombing in Basilan province, Mindanao.

Supt. Reyman Tolentin, information officer of the Police Regional Office, said their heightened alert status followed the full alert status raised in the National Capital Region.

He said Chief Supt. Debold Sinas, PRO-7 chief, instructed all personnel to guard all entrance and exit points to the region.

Tolentin said they learned that the Mactan Cebu International

Airport (MCIA) is enforcing strict security procedures in the wake of the bombing.

Tolentin said police visibility and proper procedure in inspecting vehicles at checkpoints remain the norm.
