City government stops payment for police car maintenance

Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña has issued a formal order for the city’s Department of General Services to stop shouldering the expenses for the maintenance of city-owned police cars on Wednesday (August 8).

Osmeña said he may change his mind if the personnel of the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) on the streets to help the
Mobile Patrol Group (MPG) in apprehending criminals.

The deployment of SWAT personnel will depend on the orders of Senior Supt. Royina Garma, Cebu City Police Director (CCPO).

The Cebu City Goverment spends about P50,000 for every police car every year.

At least 90 vehicles were provided by the city to CCPO.
