NEW Cebu City Engineer Jose Marie Poblete now has his hands full.

Mayor Michael Rama wanted Poblete to make sure that all funded but still unimplemented projects are done this year.

Rama also wanted Poblete to make sure that the Department of Engineering and Public Works (DEPW) will already have its own office building built at the city hall block of the South Road Properties (SRP).

The mayor is also asking Poblete to look into the possibility of outsourcing some projects.

“My marching orders for Poblete is to make sure that a new engineering building should be possible. All projects that are implementable should be a thing not imagined but a reality,” Rama said during his noon time press conference.

The former city administrator, is a lawyer and civil engineer, was named new city engineer on January 2.

Among the things Rama wants the new city engineer to look into the demolition of the building located beside the senior citizens park and now occupied by the Building Management Services (BMS).

He replaced Engr. Kenneth Carmelita Enriquez who is now the new city planning and development officer.
