DSWD-7 disburses over P1.4B for unconditional cash transfer program

November 18,2018 - 09:31 PM

THE Department of Social Welfare and Development in Central Visayas (DSWD-7) has already disbursed over P1.4 billion for this year’s implementation of Unconditional Cash Transfer (UCT) program.

As of October 31, 2018, a total of 284,310 Pantawid Pamilya partner-beneficiaries have received their UCT cash grants through cash cards and over-the-counter (OTC) payout.

While 124,849 social pension beneficiaries and 181,999 Listahanan-identified poor beneficiaries already received their UCT grants via OTC bringing the total number of UCT beneficiaries to 591,158 since the regional office started last March 7, 2018.

However, 87,067 beneficiaries are still yet to claim their UCT cash grants.

Some of the reasons for the unclaimed cash grants are absence of Listahanan-identified poor household head during payout due to work location and bedridden senior citizens were not able to visit the off-site payment.

The DSWD-7 is targeting to conduct the payout for those who were not able to claim their UCT payout starting November 15, 2018 and advice those beneficiaries to wait for the announcement of the exact date of payout in their city or municipality.

The DSWD-7 will hire notifiers to visit and coordinate with the local government units (LGUs) for the orderly payout implementation.

The UCT is considered the biggest tax reform mitigation under the Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion (TRAIN) law which seeks to provide cash subsidy amounting to Php 200 per month for 2018 and P300 per month for 2019 and 2020. /PR
