A GRADE six student from Cebu Normal University was named Little Miss South Town Centre 2018.

Ysabella Beatriz Angcahan, a resident of barangay San Nicolas, Cebu City, bested 11 other candidates during the grand finals held at South Town Centre Mall Activity Area on November 24.

She succeeded Little Miss South Town Centre 2017 Sasheena Quinn Geagonia.

During the final round, the top five finalists composed of Angcahan, Abigail Ruiz, Sofia Novhie Anne Mag-aso, Janly Grace Demol, and AaliyaLaxmi Sivaraya were judged by the following criteria: 50 percent overall appearance and 50 percent intelligence.

For the final question and answer, the top five candidates had to answer the same question.

The question was, “Since Christmas is fast approaching, what is the best gift that you can give to your parents and why?”
Angcahan answered, “The best gift that I can give to my parents is by winning this award, winning this title, and my love for them. Because I know they love me too and they support me very well.”

The Little Miss South Town Centre 2018 is Angcahan’s first pageant experience.

Angcahan took home P10,000, a bouquet of flowers, a Guyito stuff toy, and a gift certificate from Cebu Daily News for winning the Reader’s Choice Award.

Ruiz finished first runner-up and received P8,000 cash. She was named Best in Production Number and Best in Talent.

Mag-aso won second runner-up and received P5,000. She also bagged the Best in Gown and Miss Photogenic special awards.

Judges in the competition were Miss Hannah’s Eco-Tourism Philippines 2018 Juvel Mangubat Ducay, Creslito Nieves, Yogi Ygay, Jan Andre Suico, and Michelle Joy Padayhag.

The pageant was directed and choreographed by Paul Soberano.

Lee dela Cerna, the event organizer for Little Miss South Town Centre 2018, said the pageant is for talented, smart and charming Cebuana kids who want to develop their talents.

“The pageant provides opportunities for the kids to show and maximize their potentials,” he said.

Dela Cerna said they want the competition to serve as a training ground for future Cebuana beauty queens and key professionals in their respective fields of expertise.
