The demolition in barangay Apas will continue anytime today following its suspension at 11 a.m. after some personnel were caught stealing some appliances and wires from the displaced settlers.

Of the 200 personnel, 24 were allowed to continue working after they presented ID cards.

Court sheriff Edilberto Suarin, Department of Welfare of Urban Poor (DWUP) chief Collin Rosell, Land Management Board chairman Jade Ponce and Insp. Vincent Zozobrado agreed to suspend the demolition after confirming reports of the theft.

One of the workers, Christian Abatol, was caught and is now detained at the Mabolo police precinct.Suarin said they will profile the 200 demolition workers.

The demolition workers were hired by lot owner Aletha Suico-Magat. Suarin said the houses were delineated into colors green, white and red, with green and white colored houses scheduled for demolition and red houses to be spared since the owners paid their dues.
