P4.12M worth of marijuana plants uprooted in Balamban

CEBU CITY, Philippines – Authorities uprooted P4.12 million worth of marijuana stalks from three suspected marijuana plantation sites in a hinterland village in Balamban town, western Cebu.

Enforcers from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Central Visayas (PDEA), Naval Forces Central, National Intelligence Coordinating Agency (NICA), Cebu Provincial Mobile Force Company, and 47 Infantry Batallion Bravo Company raided the area past 7 a.m. on Thursday, April 4, 2019.

According to a post from the official Facebook page of PDEA – 7, three suspected cultivators were seen within the area’s vicinity but managed to escape.

A follow-up operation is now being conducted to determine their identities, and eventual arrest.

Balamban is a first-class town located 52.7 kilometers west of Cebu.

Last March, authorities also confiscated over P4-million worth of marijuana stalks in the same village of the town. /bmjo
