COGNIZANT of its goal in upgrading education towards global competitiveness, University of Cebu (UC), tops again, in the 2013 Bar Exam. And yes, it’s getting to be a habit.
Just recently, the 28-year old, Atty. Manuel Elijah (truly a Biblical name) Sarausad, encrypted his name in the roster of UC’s top caliber bar exam takers.
Who says quality education is only for the wealthy? At UC, education doesn’t have to be expensive. If you think any edifice of learning can only be a home for people born with a silver spoon in their mouth, think again.
Atty. Sarausad says he only spent P500 for his admission fee in the university, which is refundable if you’re a scholar. Since he was entitled to a four-year, full free scholarship grant, it seems the university owes him P500 now, along with a key to a brand-new Toyota Vios that he started to drive this morning as a reward from the school. “This car is not the first gift that UC has given me. It’s the free education I enjoyed for four years,” he discloses.
Atty. Baldomero Estenzo, Dean of UC College of Law, also received a car as promised by University Chancellor when she told him ,”Give me a topnotcher and I’ll give you a car.” But, he is planning to convert it into cash and share it to the faculty.
A university with a heart for the people – it cannot be refuted – you can’t spell SUCCESS without UC.
