POLICE arrested a taxi driver accused of stealing his passenger’s two necklaces and a wallet last Sunday afternoon.

Arnold Villahermosa, 35, was arrested by operatives of the Fuente Police Station in his house in barangay Ermita, Cebu City.

Villahermosa was traced through the body number of the taxi he drove last Sunday.

The arrest stemmed from the complaint of Irish Hui, 25, who reported to the police that she discovered her two necklaces worth P100,000 and her wallet containing P2,500 were missing after she disembarked from the taxi driven by Villahermosa.

Villahermosa denied stealing the jewelry and the wallet, saying the passenger accidentally left her belongings behind.

Hui suspected that the driver found a chance to steal her belongings when he asked her to transfer from the back to the seat beside driver.

Villahermosa is detained at the Fuente Police Station pending the filing of charges against him, police said.
