A 23-year-old Medicine graduate and multi-awarded triathlete is this year’s recipient of the Sotero Cabahug Medal of Academic Excellence.

“I was surprised. I didn’t expect. You know, after hearing there are a lot of applicants. They’re all cum laude. And so, I don’t know what to expect,” Vicente Lorenzo “Vince” Cabahug told reporter.

The awarding ceremony was held at the Mandaue City Sports Complex at 7 p.m. last night.
The young Cabahug is the 71st recipient of the award since it was launched in 1923. He is the fifth Cabahug clan member to receive the distinction.

The award launched by the Mandaue City Council in honor of the late Justice Sotero B. Cabahug is given to Mandauehanons who excelled in his/her field.

The award is open to secondary, undergraduate and post-graduate students.

Cabahug is a registered nurse. He finished his pre-Med course on top of his class at the Cebu Doctor’s University College of Medicine (CDU-CM), one of the top four medical schools in the country.
