Fresh from her win at the Mall Of Asia Arena last May 27, Ms. Teen Earth Philippines 2014 Vanessa Mae Walters said she wants to inspire the Cebuano youth to be environment advocates.

It was a homecoming for Vanessa Mae Walters who resides in Mandaue City with her Australian father and a Filipina mother.

“As a fourteen year old, it has been a privilege and an honor to be crowned in a national competition and hopefully in my kind of age, I really want to inspire our community and the Philippines, especially when it comes to environmental education,” she said.

“I think people affect the environment here…. As an earth ambassador, I would try my very best to change the mindset of the Cebuanos as Filipinos especially on waste disposal and anything else that affects our environment,” she said.

She said she will try her best to visit various schools in Mandaue to lobby for environmental awareness and protection. /Silliman University Intern DM Narciso
