CEBU CITY, Philippines — For the first 18 days this 2021, police in Central Visayas recorded confiscating over three kilograms and thousands of vials containing illegal drugs, which are valued at more than P26 million.
The Police Regional Office in Central Visayas (PRO-7), in a statement dated January 21, 2021, reported that they conducted 216 operations against the illicit trade from January 1 to January 18.

As a result, they arrested a total of 299 suspects, and confiscated 3.2 kilograms of methamphetamine, or locally known as shabu, worth up to P21.6 million.

“Also, 20,600 pieces of nubain ampules valued at P5,150,000 were confiscated by the operating teams. A total of four firearms were confiscated from illegal drug pushers,” added PRO-7.

Within the same period, PRO-7 also reported seizing 111 loose firearms from 104 operations under their ‘Oplan Katok’ which also resulted in the arrest of 26 suspects.
In terms of illegal gambling, law enforcers said they carried out 198 operations against illegal gambling during the first 18 days of January, in which 542 persons were arrested and P60,374 of bet money was confiscated.

For his part, Police Brigadier General Ronnie Montejo, director of PRO-7, commended the efforts of all Central Visayas police officers in sustaining their anti-criminality initiatives despite the ongoing coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.
“Bisan pa aning nagpabiling hulga sa COVID-19, padayon ang inyong kapulisan sa ilang buluhaton aron mamintinar ang kahapsay ug kalinaw dinhe sa rehiyon siete,” said Montejo.
