CEBU CITY, Philippines— Photographs can either remind us of what have been or remind us of what to look forward to.

To take photos and be good at it is not pure skills but talent.

Seeing things in a different light and how you take and present the photo shows a different kind of passion and dedication.

In this story, we will get to know the relationship of destination photographer, Jack Ponpon and his love for photography.

The 21-year-old Daanbantayan native said he started getting into photography at an early age of 10.

And since then he did not stop his passion in photography and explored his skills and capabilities with it.

Now, he has trending photos of destinations in Cebu, namely the Aisle in Medellin, the Bamboo Forest in Medellin, and some beach photos of Bantayan, and Malapascua Islands.

“Nothing sets me apart actually. However, I think what makes my work unique is that I unveil undiscovered corners of Cebu. My followers often see it as my signature,” he said.

He also shared that his skills in photography, it helped him financially as he now is working for wedding shoots, debut shoots and recently a national gig landed his way.

”But recently, got hired as one of the photographers for Department of Tourism’s Mediterranean Campaign (National Project). We traveled from North to South Cebu in just 7 days, visiting 20 different tourist spots in the province. Because of this, I can finally claim that I have been to all corners of Cebu after visiting Camotes Island which has long been on my bucket list,” he added.

Ponpon and his love for photography has allowed people to know some places in Cebu that do not ring a bell before.

His love for photography opened a lot of opportunities for others to explore and be heard. /dbs
