Camiguin native in jail for joking about bomb in port terminal

No one laughed when a 40-year-old woman joked about the presence of a bomb inside the Cebu City port terminal.

Instead of going to Mindanao, Charito Abao landed in detention where police authorities brought her Tuesday evening.

Abao, a native of Camiguin province, told some waiting passengers at the port that there is a bomb.

“Bantay kay naay bomba dinha (Watch out there’s a bomb there),” Senior Ins. Evan Epe, chief of Intelligence and Investigation Section quoted Abao as saying.

False information about bombs even when said in jest is punishable by law.  Any violator may be fined at least P40,000 or a maximum of five years in imprisonment.  An inquest proceeding is set tomorrow at the Cebu City Prosecutor’s Office.
