MANDAUE CITY, Cebu — Critics of the Talisay City College (TCC) may want to reconsider their accusations that the city-run college is underperforming, after one of its graduates made it to the Top 10 spot in the elementary level of the March 2022 Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET).

Graduate Lucille Dejos earned an average of 91.40 and occupies the Top 3 spot in the examination held last March 27.

She shares the Top 3 spot with Noel Ramos Jr. of Mati Doctors College and Nikkie Loren Villa of the Cebu Technological University.

“Amidst all the political criticisms that the Talisay City College (TCC) is supposedly underperforming and supposedly not doing well. Here comes news that we have a LET topnotcher from the Talisay City College,” said Talisay City Mayor Gerald Anthony “Samsam” Gullas in a social media post Friday night, April 29, shortly after the examination results were released by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC).

Gullas said two other TCC graduates also passed the March 2022 LET.

These are Barangay Jaclupan Sangguniang Kabanatan (SK) Chairperson Rovena Jane Abatayo and  City Emergency Operations Center (EOC) staff Marisse Lahaylahay Sabanal.

“I’m truly proud of the achievements of our fellow Talisaynons because these only prove that we can transcend to greater heights by doing what we love while serving others as well,” he said.

“To everyone who passed and to all Talisaynons who passed the Licensure Examination for Teachers, congratulations kay sa tanan kalisod nga inyong giagian, ni pay off na gyud inyong kahago ug sakrispisyo para makab-ot ang inyong mga pangandoy,” he added.

(“To everyone who passed and to all Talisaynons who passed the Licensure Examination for Teachers, congratulations to all of you because all the challenges that you encountered, your efforts and sacrifices have paid off to reach what you are dreaming of.)

He said the success of these TCC graduates was proof of how well the city college was doing.

Gullas added that “You cannot put a good school down.”

“Garbo sa Talisay and garbo sa Talisay City College,” he added.

Talisay City Mayor Samsam Gullas also extended his congratulations to the “TCC President, Dr. Richel Bacaltos, and everyone in the TCC family for this achievement.”

“Especially to you Lucille, you have brought great pride to our city and the Talisay City College,” Gullas said.
