Go Race Cebu in Carmen attracts 1,200 runners

CEBU CITY, Philippines —  Go Race Cebu: The Great Safari Experience had a successful turnout on Saturday, July 30, 2022, at the Cebu Safari and Adventure Park in Carmen town, north Cebu.

This as 1,200 participants of all ages answered the starting gun in the unique sporting event. It featured a run and obstacle course race through this vast attraction that features over a thousand animals from 120 species. 

After the grueling run and obstacle course racing, Sunny Amor and Dominique Enerio dominated the 12-kilometer male and female categories respectively.

Amor finished the 12k men’s category with a time of 1 hour, 23 minutes, and 50 seconds, while Richard Buar trailed him in second place in 1:24.08. Jascint Paul Almirol rounded off the top three in 1:24.59.

Meanwhile, Enerio crossed the finish line at 1:23.53 followed by Lizane Abella in second place with a time of 1:29.16. Andrea Gaurana settled in third place with the time of 1:33.52. 

Amor and Enerio walked away with a whopping P10,000 purse, while Buar and Abella earned P8,000 for their second-place finish. P5,000 was given each to Almirol and Gaurana for placing third in the 12k race. 

In the 6k race, Mark Mahinay and Asia Paraase emerged as the fastest athletes in the male and female categories respectively.

Mahinay finished the 6k race with the time of 36:31.37, followed by Rinmarch Gonzaga at second place at 38:41.90. Justin Pesons completed the top three finishers at 41:48.93. 

On the other hand, Paraase clocked in 41:48.14 to emerge as the fastest female contender in the 6K race. Cherry Andrin trailed her at second place at 44:00.56, and Julie Baldevarona placing third at 55:22.17. 

Mahinay and Paraase pocketed P5,000, while Gonzaga and Andrin went home with P3,000. Pesons and Baldevarona each received P2,000 for placing third in the 6k race.

The unique obstacle/running event was part of the prestigious Cebu Business Month (CBM) 2022 celebration of the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI).
