Paolo Alberto and Kenneth Cue banked on consistency to bag the overall title of the 14th Island Tee at the Mactan Island Golf Club in Lapu-Lapu City over the weekend.

The big story of the tournament, however, was Alejandro ‘Jun’ Dayot III who nailed an ace on hole No. 15 last Saturday.

Alberto and Cue combined for rounds of 75 and 73 points on very dry conditions for a total of 148 in the four-day, 36-hole event that used the Modified Stableford Scoring System.

The Island Tee is the annual member-guest tournament of the club located inside the Mactan Benito Ebuen Air Base.

Dayot’s feat was witnessed by Noel Abad and Andrew Ahn. He won a Hyundai Accent from Hyundai Cebu, P100,000 worth of free bet coupons from Pagcor, a Sunriser motorcycle from Norkis Trading, and the cash fund for the club’s hole-in-one special.

The lowest individual gross plum went to Jun-jun Cabajar, who fired rounds of 72 and 71 strokes. Pio Barandog bagged the lowest net honors with his two-day total of 83 points.

Barandog also won the team title for Division A with Scott Reyes as they combined for 145 points while runner-up honors for the premiere handicap category went to the tandem of Romano Castillon and junior golf standout Weiwei Gao (142 points).

Other division winners: Division B – Julian and Antonio Garcia (121 points); Division C –  Jun and Daniel Yap (132 points); Seniors Division – Ting Creus and Chito Misa (123 points); Ladies Division – Visyl Hansson and Diana Cummins (119 points). / fullpointcebu.com
