100% connectivity of Cebu City’s 80 barangays by December 15

ONLY 60 percent of Cebu City’s barangays are connected to the City Hall. This will no longer be the case in a week’s time.

Senior Supt. Conrad Capa, deputy regional director of the Police Regional Office 7 and officer in charge of the Cebu City Police Office, and Mayor Michael Rama had an agreement to bridge the gap and make it 100 percent by Dec. 15.

“By December 15, I will wake up at 2 a.m. and call the 80 barangays before I attend Misa de Gallo at 4 a.m.,” Rama told reporters yesterday.

Called the “Project Barangay Connectivity,” Capa will be assisted in realizing the plan by Vice Mayor Edgardo Labella, who heads City Hall’s Police Coordinating and Advisory Council (PCAC) and Councilor Nestor Archival Sr. who heads the council’s committee on public safety and order.

Councilors Gerry Carillo and Dave Tumulak will also help.

“It’s a challenge for them. We want all 80 barangays to be all connected especially with the coming Christmas, Sinulog, APEC,” Rama added.

Capa assumed office last Saturday as the new head of the CCPO. He also holds the position of deputy regional director for operations.

In an interview last Saturday, Capa promised to be “hands on” in his tasks at the CCPO, especially in the anti-illegal drugs campaign.

He also wants to curb the number of crimes recorded during December.

“Personally, I want to debunk and disprove the theory that if it’s December, the number of crimes increases. We don’t want that to become the mindset of the people,” he said.

He added that he is also looking forward to the task in preparation of Sinulog 2015 next month.

His predecessor, Senior Supt. Noli Romana, was reassigned to the Civil Security Group in the Philippine National Police (PNP) National Headquarters in Camp Crame.
