CEBU CITY, Philippines — The Don Bosco Technology Center (DBTC) Greywolves stamped their dominance in the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) high school football tournament by beating the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) Magis Eagles, 4-1, in their championship match on Thursday, Dec. 8, 2022, at the Cebu City Sports Center (CCSC) pitch.

More impressively, the Greywolves won all of their six matches, including their lopsided win against the Magis Eagles in the high school division.

The “Man of the Match” Carsten Pumareja scored a brace or two goals for DBTC, while Joseph Edgar Paredes and Joseph Kyne Garces each scored a goal in their lopsided win.

James Benedict Rufin was the lone Magis Eagle to score a goal.

Pumareja scored the first goal in the 19th minute and made it 2-0 for DBTC with his second goal in the 41st minute.

However, Rufin retaliated with a 44th minute goal to bring the match to a 2-1 score heading into halftime.

Despite their efforts, DBTC was too much for the Magis Eagles after Paredes and Garces scored two consecutive goals at the 54th and 55th minutes, respectively to seal the victory.

In the battle for third, the University of San Carlos (USC) Warriors beat the University of San Jose-Recoletos, 3-1.

Theo Jico Libardes scored a hat trick from his 19th, 44th, and 79th minute goals.

Merick Baloria prevented his team from a shutout loss with his 14th minute goal.

Meanwhile, the championship match between USJ-R and USC in the college division is scheduled on Sunday, December 11, 2022, at the same venue.
