LEAGUE-LEADERS Big Chill Superchargers and Jumbo Plastic Giants, will try to end the year right as they take on separate foes today in the last playdate of the year in the PBA D-League Aspirants Cup over at the Ynares Arena in Pasig City.
Big Chill, led by Cebuano guard Brian Heruela, will take on the Wangs Basketball Couriers (4-5) as they try to improve on their league-leading 9-1 (win-loss) record.
In the second game, the Jumbo Plastic Giants (7-2), bannered by yet another Cebuano in big man Jan Colina, will try to grab solo second place against the Blackwater Sports (4-2) at 2 p.m.
Incidentally, both Heruela and Colina are products of the University of Cebu basketball program. Colina, a former two-time Cesafi All-Star MVP in the juniors division, continued his stellar showing in the tournament as he tallied seven of his 19 points in the fourth period to push the Giants past Derulo Accelero, 73-61, last Tuesday.
In the third game of today’s triple-header, the Boracay Rum Waves (3-5) tangles with the Zambales M-Builders (2-7).
