Reigning NCAA junior MVP to join Archers

By: Jonas N. Panerio December 19,2013 - 02:13 PM

AS if getting two major championships this year wasn’t enough, the La Salle Green Archers added another cause for celebration after the reigning NCAA juniors MVP, Prince Romero, committed to join the squad.

Rivero, a 6-foot-3 forward out of the La Salle Greenhills squad, chose to stay with the green and white after a brief dalliance with moving over to join rivals, Ateneo, where his close buddies from the RP team, Thirdy Ravena and San Beda’s Arvin Tolentino, have chosen to play.

Rivero though, will be hard-pressed to make the rotation in a stacked La Salle frontcourt that brings everybody from their championship-winning squad back. Already manning the paint are Norbert Torres, Arnold Van Opstal and UAAP Mythical Five member, Jason Perkins.

La Salle has had quite the year, winning the UAAP crown over the University of Santo Tomas in October before completing a golden double by defeating the Southwestern University Cobras for the Philippine Collegiate Champions League (PCCL) title just the other day.

Adding Rivero to their fold is just the cherry on top especially after the latter averaged close to 24 points, 19 rebounds and four assists in his final season in the NCAA.
