BARANGAY Mactan residents and visitors joined the foot and fluvial procession in honor of the Señor Sto. Niño yesterday.

The event began with a 6 a.m. Mass at the Sto. Niño Parish in barangay Mactan and continued with a foot procession that began at the Angasil wharf.

Images of the Señor Sto. Niño, Sagrada Familia (Holy Family) and Virgin Mary were brought to Angasil wharf in a carroza followed by a drum and bugle contingent and the devotees.

The images were transported by 15 motorized bancas to the tip of Punta Engaño and then back to the Liberty Shrine where  the images were greeted with flowers and fireworks.

Linfa Mejias, a 50-year-old resident of sitio Angasil and a Sto. Niño devotee said for the past eight years she has  displayed her images on a table. “Nahimo na gyud ni namong tradisyon dinhi. Gani motabang nako akong mga anak sa pag-andam (we made this a tradition in the family. In fact, my children help me in the preparations),” Mejias said.
