Seno guns for more points in Malaysia tilt

LOOKING to earn more points in the Philippine Lawn Tennis Association (Philta), Cebu City’s Jan Godfrey Seno will be living for Malacca, Malaysia today to compete in the 2015 Malacca International Tennis Federation (ITF) junior tournament.

Seno said his first assignment will be on Saturday.

Seno, 15, has been winning titles in the boys 16 and 18-under competition returning from the US last year.

Seno is targeting to make it to the Philippine national junior tennis team, which will see action in the Junior Davis Cup qualifier in Australia.

Seno has to land in the top five Philta rankings to be able to join the team.

In the Philta rankings as of Jan. 31, Seno has 120 points for a from 49th to 52nd places with Dean Casseus, Ryanne Maglinao, Maxine Paul Ong and Jerome Ignacio.

According to Seno, another Filipino junior netter, Jerome Romualdez, will also be joining in the Malaysian tournament.

Romualdez is the current Boys’ 16-Under No. 4 player with 1,137.5 Philta points.

Meanwhile, the 1st round of the Asia-Oceania Group 2 Davis Cup Tie between the Philippines and Sri Lanka will be held this March 6, 7 and 8 at the Valle Verde Country Club in Pasig City.
