Robert Sarvida scores another victory in SUGBU bowling shootout

CEBU CITY, Philippines — Filipino-American kegler Robert Sarvida flexed his winning form anew in the Sugboanon Bowlers United (SUGBU) Bowling Shootout Tournament on Sunday, September 3, 2023, at the SM Seaside City Cebu Bowling Center.

Sarvida, a new member of SUGBU, finished the four-game tournament with 809 pinfalls. 

Last August 27, Sarvida made his debut in SUGBU’s Bowling Shootout Tournament and immediately made a first-place finish.

Earlier today, Sept. 3, he won the tournament anew against 17 other bowlers. Sarvida banked on his 20 handicap points to put him on top. His best round was in the first game, scoring 245 pinfalls.

Sarvida secured a slot in the SUGBU “Bowler of the Month” tournament on September 17, wherein he will compete with fellow qualifiers for the monthly plum.

Rey Velarde placed second with 777 total pinfalls. Velarde scored 235 pinfalls in game three, which served as his best performance in the tournament.

Rounding off the top three was Lemuel Paquibut, who tallied 761 pinfalls. Paquibut scored 184 pinfalls also in game three for his best outing.

The fourth and fifth placers were Ted Convocar and Dory Enoveso. Convocar finished with 760 pinfalls, while Enoveso scored 738 pinfalls.

The sixth to 10th placers of the tournament were Rommel Calipay (730), Tonty Calo (730), Chris Ramil (725), Orly Enoveso (722), and Rene Ceniza (711), respectively.  /dcb
